Personalized Greeting Cards, a business to business greeting cards distributor, has sold millions of customized greeting cards to businesses since 1982. They have been providing thier services online since 1995.
The Challenge:
Create a cutting edge, ground breaking, user friendly on-line custom greeting cards configuration and web site management system.

- Print Shop
The on-line print shop is truly one of Whirlwind's crowning applications. This component allows site visitors to build a completely personalized corporate holiday cards and proof them on-line. The customization process allows the user to select from hundreds of available cards each with thier own unique array of available personalization options, choose verse, enter customer card imprint, choose colors, upload corporate logos, enter envelope imprint and more - - all of which are presented in real time on-line.
- POS System Integration
In addition to a customer merchandising application, Whirlwind created the website to be used as a Point of Sale system by Personalized Greeting Cards. This allows the PGC call center to enter and manage all orders online via the same application used by web site visitors. The results is a complete integration of online and call center customer services. Now when customers buy items online they can call the PGC operators to check order status and vice-verse.
- On-line Card Store Management
Whirlwind provided Personalized Greeting Cards with the capability to create and manage all catalog available products and cards on-line. Customized configuration capabilities include per-card print-shop option selection - - allowing PGC to dictate each individual card's user selectable options and presentation details.
- Multi-Store Management
The new PGC website allows site managers to create new, unique web sites on the fly. As PGC acquires new web site URLS they can use the content management system to customize a web site for the URL and target it to specific clients. PGC can include content and products already in existence on their other web sites simply by point-and-click, and they can add custom content and products unique to each web site.
- Complete Vertical Integration
PGC wished to have the technology do all the work for them. In other words, when an order was placed they did not want to have to contact thier vendors to make arrangements, contact customers to gather additional information, or manage any communications between their vendors and customers. PGC wanted the entire process to be hands off.
In order to address this requirement, Whirlwind developed a cradle-to-grave automated vendor and customer process management system. All communication, confirmations, orders and verifications that need to take place during the fulfillment of the order are completely automated by the technology - so no one at PGC has to lift a finger. From the moment an order is placed to receipt of the order by the customer, the web application manages confirmation emails and processes with the vendor and customer, proof approvals, content approvals, shipment tracking and more.
